The idea
The idea that developed into Hoorar International Search Service Ltd started back in 1999.
I received a letter from my girl friend Valentina from Omus, Russia asking me whether I meant one meaning of a word or another meaning.
I had sent her a book on Tauranga, New Zealand and a gift of candles. I was unaware that candles were considered bad luck in Russia and hence I got a Dear John letter back.
So love struck was I that I set about writing a fairytale to get over the candle incident. After I had written the fairytale I set about looking for the parts to make it come true and get my love back.
The only thing I needed to get all the pieces of the fairytale was a gold rose.
Now it's not a problem to get one of them for it's one of the most hit on all the leading search engines - a gold rose.
The Solution
After many years of searching I lost my love and then thought; If the search engines were able to understand the meaning of the words I was typing, then the search engine would return only the web links containing words that meant the same as my search criteria.
One could get the answer that one is looking for.
The year was 2005
The year was 2005, and I approached Microsoft to develop a search engine, as a partner. Microsoft New Zealand thought that the search engine was a good idea but Microsoft USA did not. Hence I went looking for a company to build the program for myself and partners I met along the way.
In 2007, I found a software company in New Zealand, based in Auckland that offered their services to develop the new search engine. In 2008 we started work on the search engine.
After many months work Hoorar launched on the 12/12/2008.
There is still a lot of work to be done on the search engine
and it is a work in progress.
